Materials Testing – Energy Absorbed at Fracture TE15

TecQuipment’s TE15 allows students to
investigate the nature of fracture in materials and its relationship to material
toughness Students can achieve an understanding of resistance to different materials to
crack propagation and how temperature influences material
fracture Similar to Sharpy and Izod impact testers the TE15 uses a swinging pendulum to
transfer energy to the specimen A swinging pendulum is held in place with
an electromagnet The separate instrumentation unit
controls the release of the pendulum and measures and displays its angler
position before and after the impact The unit also directly displays energy
absorbed by the impact in joules A range of different specimens are
supplied The TE15 is visually effective and has interesting and motivating experiments for all students.
