Hello friends! Welcome to the 7th tutorial of on grid solar power plant tutorial series . I Shubham Mandot am going to discuss about the designing of Solar system So let us see what will be the first one Firstly, we will have to check our average monthly consumption Then we will have to see the panel’s capacity and its quantity to be used Then we will decide the position of panels Then we will decide which will be the most appropriate layout among series, parallel or combination. Then we will decide the type of inverter along with MPPT Then we will match the layout with the inverter type At the end we will decide the cable sizing at the DC and AC side So let us begin Let us know our electricity requirement. Let us try to make our electricity bill 0 for this design . i.e. let us design a system to make our electricity consumption 0 For that we will have to know the unit s of electricity consumed during the previous year So take out your all the electricity bills and get ready From them, note the 3 highest consumption values Take the average of those and select a value larger than that . Take this typical example It is the electricity consumption of the whole year whose average consumption is 175.833 kWh The average of the 3 highest values is 233.33 kWh so we will have to design our system such that it has a minimum capacity of 233.33 kWh So let us see how much kWh is generated from 1kw system If our system is of 1 kW capacity then how much units will it generate For that we will require the irradiation value As we have seen in our previous video that we can find the irradiance values for different places on the map let us take the worst case possible which is 4 peak sun hours So if there are only 4 peak sun hours in a day then 1kW system will generate 4kWh in one day and 120 units in a month our requirement is of 233 units so we can take approximately 2kW system. So if we have a 2kW on grid solar system then it will suit to our requirement Let us see what capacity of solar panels should we use and in what number For this tutorial we choose a Waree solar panel of 250 Watt For 250 W panel capacity, you will need 8 panels So we need 8 solar panels. You might be thinking of why to use 250 W panels only , why can’t we use 100 W panels Yes you can use them but then you will require 20 panels No doubt your cost per panel will be low but your overall expenditures will increase in comparison to the 250W panel And the area required fr 20 panels too is larger So we have selected 250W panels you can take 350 or 450 as well let us see what should be the position of our panels As we know , the tilt angle of panels has to be equal to the latitude for the year round design Azimuth angle will be 0 degree South Along with it, as we know there is the effect of shadow leading to a reduction in the power output So if you are unable to keep it south facing , you can tilt it to the either direction according to the shadow analysis Hence the positioning as well as the quantity has been done let us see the types of layouts Let us recall what we have discussed previously before designing the layout of our system We have seen that parallel , series and mixed connection are the types of connections let us revise parallel type of connection where we connected the like terminals together The output current is the summation while voltage is constant V similarly , in series connection the unlike terminals are connected together The output current is constant and the voltage is the summation. the mixed connection may consist of any combination of series and parallel . And the output will be accordingly So, if we connect panels in parallel then the output current will the summation of currents flowing through each panel (I1 + I2 +…..+I8) And the voltage remains constant similarly if we connect them in series , current will remain constant and voltage becomes 8 times Let us see what is mixed connection As we know that it is the combination of series and parallel The effective values of current and voltage will be known in the same manner : current adds up in series and voltage does so in parallel Do take care here that you cannot apply unequal combinations i.e. if there are 2 rows then one row cannot have 3 panels while the other is having 2 and vice versa This is not suitable for your system Let us see what can probably be one of the mixed connections Assume a panel having I1 current and V1 voltage We take 3 more panels and connect them in series We then take another similar series setup which has I2 flowing through it Now if these 2 independent connections o rows or strings are connected in parallel i.e. if there like terminals are connected together Then your system becomes a mixed connection let us see what will be its output So if there are 2 rows each having 4 panels then the output current will be I1 + I2 both the currents get added and voltage will be the addition of 4 voltages V1 + V2 +V3 + V4 Similarly if you take 4 rows each having 2 panels then the currents will add up from each row and voltage will be the summation of 2 voltages in series this way the layouts are prepared Before moving ahead , I would like to give an activity Find out which one of the above layouts i.e. parallel , series , 2 rows of 4 panels in series and 4 rows of 2 panels in series is the best and why so, see you in the next video I hope that you would have liked this video and do carry out this activity and answer the same in the comment box and let us if you have any doubt as well see you in the next video. If all panels are connected in series then it will best for maximum generation.

Which voltage of panel should be taken from datasheet. Is it Vm or V sc and same query for current also..

What is the maximum power , when panel connection is parallel or series???
